Super-sets, explained

Super-sets are one of the oldest tricks for getting more work done in less time — and Cubex Fitness runs them for you automatically, so you never have to think about the timing. Here's what they are and how the session handles them.

What a super-set actually is

A super-set is two (or more) exercises done back-to-back with no rest between them. You finish your set of exercise A, go straight into exercise B, and only then take your rest. That pair (or group) is one super-set.

Example: a set of push-ups straight into a set of rows, no break in between — then rest, then repeat.

Why they work

It's exactly how people train on a real gym floor when they know what they're doing — not a gimmick.

How Cubex runs them for you

When a program includes a super-set, the session engine groups those exercises together and walks you through them in order:

  1. You do your set of the first exercise and tap through.
  2. Instead of starting a rest timer, the app takes you straight to the next exercise in the group — that's the super-set doing its job.
  3. Once you've finished every exercise in the group, then the rest timer runs before the next round.

You never have to track "wait, do I rest here or not?" — the session knows the structure and just moves you to the right place. Your live heart rate, calories, and set logging keep running the whole time.

💡 The point of a super-set is the no-rest transition. If you wander off for water between the paired exercises, you've turned it back into two normal sets. Keep the pair tight; rest after the group.

Easy mode vs Advanced mode

Super-sets work in both. In Easy mode you just follow the prompts — the app tells you what's next and when to rest. In Advanced mode you also log weight and reps per set, which is worth doing once you want to track progression on the paired lifts.

Do you have to use them?

No — plenty of programs use straight sets. But if a program you picked includes super-sets, don't skip them or "un-pair" them: they're part of how that plan is designed to work. And if you build your own workouts, you can group exercises into super-sets yourself.
